Welcome, one all, to my continuing episodic review series for Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san. This week is … the final episode! Did the girls officially get together? Was this special another fun showing? Let’s find out.
Hot Spring Holiday
Inugami, Nekoyama, and Aki were at a hot spring. Much of the episode was what you’d expect, really. Nekoyama was embarrassed and wanted to remain covered up, but Inugami didn’t want her to because she wanted to watch her. Inugami wasn’t originally invited and thought Aki wanted to take advantage of Nekoyama, so she came along because she wanted to join. That sort of thing.
Things took a different turn when it came to dinner time as Inugami stormed into the room, livid at being left behind again. She outright asked Nekoyama if she liked Aki, and Nekoyama replied, “Well yeah, who wouldn’t?”
So, Inugami burst into tears, saying they’re clearly in love. Nekoyama explained that that’s not how she meant it though. She said, “I like you too Inugami-san…I think”. She explained that she’s okay saying such things to Aki, but with Inugami, she blushes.
And that was it for the romance, really. Nekoyama had never gone on a trip with friends before and wanted to do another one sometime. They asked her where she’d like to go next time, and we get a little message on the screen saying: “A “next time” will probably depend on everyone’s support.”
Disappointing
That pretty much sums it up. This episode di some things really well. The animation was smoother and more consistent. It had plenty of Inugami being her usual self and a little more progression between her and Nekoyama. But we didn’t get a definite end.
It was obvious that the studio was hoping for a second season, and maybe that would have seen a better ending, but as it is, this was a disappointing way to finish things off. Which is a shame, because the series was decently entertaining at times.
But what about yourselves? Have you seen this show? What did you make of this episode? Let me know below!
