Welcome, one all, to my continuing episodic review series for Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san. We’ve had a swimsuit episode, and this week, we have a festival episode! Let’s have a look at what happened.
Yukata Be Kidding Me
The obligatory festival episode was a tame one, for sure. Aki is in a Chinese dress as she didn’t have the time to change, but both Inugami and Nekoyama are in traditional yukatas. While Nekoyama had her sister help her put hers on, Inugami surprised them by declaring she can do hers herself.
Nezu and Ushiwaka turn up and they have a chat about how the blue shaved ice turns your tongue blue. Your lips to it seems, as Ushiwaka uses her finger to clean Inugami’s lips in a vaguely seductive manner, causing more shock. We then get a brief cutaway to Torikai, who is unwell in the Summer heat and is being cared for by Sarutobi.
Next up, we see the fish catching game. Nekoyama has had a fascination with it since she was a child, and has often wondered what the fish would taste like. Ushiwaka points out that they don’t look like they have much meat on them, and Nezu declares that it wasn’t an appropriate response to the statement.
Finally, we get the fireworks. The girls all watch the pretty sky explosions, and the episode ends with Inugami taking Nekoyama’s hand.
A Casual Stroll
This was essentially what the title of this summary indicates. It was a casual tour of the festival with a little bit of fan service, some in-animal-character moments, and a sweet ending. That was really it. There was nothing wrong with it, but nothing really standout either.
With only one episode left, I’m not sure if the titular pair will actually get together or not. The last few episodes shave leaned a little more into that, but you never know. The show does tend to drop plot points on an episode-by-episode basis. I hope we get a satisfying conclusion though.
But what about yourselves? Have you seen this show? What did you make of this episode? Let me know below!
