Welcome, one all, to my continuing episodic review series for Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san. This week, is a pool episode. Because what anime would be complete with swimsuits, I guess? Let’s have a look at what happened.
Wet A Conundrum
This one was actually pretty tame, believe it or not. Inugami, of course, jumped straight in and was overexcited about the swimsuits. Aki did point out that they’re just school swimsuits but Inugami found a bright side for herself in that: they’re the most revealing costumes you’re allowed to wear in school.
For a moment, it looked like she was getting nostalgic too, reminiscing about how they had to wear name tags on the front of the swimsuits before high school. Inugami being Inugami though, let this lead into a fantasy about Nekoyama forgetting to write her name on hers and her helping out by writing it for her while she was still wearing it.
Nekoyama was having less fun, just sitting on the edge with Torikai. Torikai won’t swim because she hates chlorine, stating that it feels like it will cause her skin to dissolve. Meanwhile, Nekoyama just finds water scary and thinks it will swallow her up and drown her. Plus, if she gets in, Inugami will come after her.
The moment she mentions that Inugami arrives to splash her and tries to convince her to come in the water. While she’s yammering on, Nekoyama gets distracted by her viewing angle, causing Inugami to repeat herself. Inugami wants to see her all wet. She means soaked from the pool water, but Nekoyama thinks it’s something else and whomps her, telling her, “That something you can’t say!”
Back at school, Nezu dried Inugami’s hair while the pup wonders if Nekoyama is mad. The kitty though is regretting her choices and feels like she missed something really good. Aki asked if she was okay, but without knowing what’s wrong, Nekoyama keeps on suffering. She then goes to sleep.
More Swim Than Sink
This actually surprised me. Given the way Inugami is, I expected the inevitable swimsuit episode to be far more fan servicey. Instead, Inugami was actually fairly toned down. Even her fantasy saw her using a marker pen rather than seeing Nekoyama stripping. And the joke about being all wet was a great piece of humour found in a clear misunderstanding.
Nekoyama’s pain at the end and her realising that her viewpoint was fairly erotic was a nice touch too because it shows her kinda waking up to how she feels. The girls are really dating, but Nekoyama wants to be more than she realised, I think.
There were some slight inconsistencies in the body proportions this week. It was most noticeable during Inugami’s fantasy, as Nekoyama seemed to elongate a bit. Head sizes too were a little off at times. Other than that though, this was fun.
