Welcome, one all, to my continuing episodic review series for Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san. The characters provided some good laughs and a little dash of sweetness here. Let’s see what happened.
Eye See A Run Through
Nekoyama has had an eye exam and, while her vision issues don’t affect her much, they are enough for her to need contacts. Ingumai has other ideas though and insists that she get glasses instead. In fact, why waste time? They should go to the glasses store straight after school. It’ll be like their first after-school date.
The trio of Nekoyama, Inugami and Aki head out to the store with Inugmai leading the way. She frequents the place, so knows it well. Aki asks her why when she doesn’t use eyewear, and her answer is: “Because there are so many pretty ladies in glasses!”
Nekoyama settles on a pair that reminded me a little of Grell from Black Butler, and Inugami approved because of how cute they look when she glances upwards at her. While Nekoyama was getting them ready, Aki and Inugami started trying pairs on until they were ejected for messing around.
On the way back, Inugami suggests that Nekoyama should put the glasses on and when she does, she gets a little dizzy. Inugami helps her by holding her hand, and explains the dizziness. Then Aki reveals that Inugami knew that would happen when she wore them for the first time, and that’s why she suggested it.
Giggles And Awws
So, pretty much everything landed this week in terms of humour. Inugami’s love of girls in glasses was easy to spot before the reveal but was still funny. Aki physically swatting Inugami away when she tried a pair on was good. And the closing moments with Aki pointing out what Inugami did was brilliant.
The sweetness came in during that closing scene too. Nekoyama freaked a little when Inugami held her hand, with the dizziness getting worse. When Inugami explained what she was doing, there was a lovely shot of Nekoyama’s fingers tightening around hers too. That was subtle but really nice.
Overall
This is a surprisingly consistent show. It’s visually fine but not stand out, but makes use of some nice touches. The humour is simple but amusing, and the sweeter moments work well. Thus far, this one is a hit for me. But what about yourselves? Have you seen this show? What did you make of this episode? Let me know below!
