Release Day: The Spark Form Chronicles Collected EditionMarch 11, 2019
Welcome, one and all to the first of today’s project-based posts. Do you know what day it is? It’s book release day! That’s right, The Spark Form Chronicles Collected Edition finally releases today. For those that don’t know, this book collects the entirety of my original self-published series.
Running from 2015 to 2019, it spanned four books: WICK, CARNIVAL, GIFTS, and MOTT. The story is basically a love letter to the 90’s part of my childhood, and features elements of pro wrestling, Yu-Gi-Oh! style card gaming, and AI philosophy. And a furry hologram.
It was one of those series that I had some mixed luck with. The books have always been well received, but the writing was scrappy. There was some interest in it from two different publishing houses, one of which is actually quite a big one, but nothing panned out. The story was fun, but my covers were hardly eye-catching. I had no idea how to market it due to a combination of inexperience and having not been aware of the GameLit genre. Now, I’m hoping that I’ve fixed a lot of that.
The new cover, which you can see below, is excellent in my opinion. I’ve re-edited the collection to tidy it up a little. I even threw in the rules for and a few sample cards from the card game that the characters play as bonus material. And yes, the game does exist. Before I started writing it, I created and tested multiple different versions of the game. So, the details in the book tie up with what I actually play-tested. On top of all that, I’ve listed as far cheaper than buying the books individually and pushed it out to multiple retailers, while the original releases were Amazon only.
Anyway, what I’m saying is, the series is one that I’m really proud of, and I’m happy to see it finally come to an end. Feel free to click on the listing page if you want to pick it up. I have purchase links there that should cover most e-reader formats.
