Random Q & A
By Natalina Reis
People ask me questions all the time, and not always about my books. Here is a collection of such questions for your reading pleasure.
Question- Are you in love?
Natalina- I’m very much in love with my characters, all the great books out there, and the amazing world we live in. Noticed how I avoided answering?
Q-Coffee or tea
N- Even though I drink both (only hot, not any of that iced-foolishness), I am a huge coffee lover. And a coffee snob. That’s pretty much the only thing (and books) I splurge on without feeling guilty.
Q-Dream job?
N- Writing full time. I love what I do as a day job but I’m itching to dedicate myself solely to my books.
Q-Dream car?
N-Don’t really have one. I like them simple, comfortable, and well-adjusted to vertically-challenged people like me.
Q-If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would that be and why?
N- Lots of places I want to visit, but right now I would fly home to Portugal so I could see my elderly mom, hang out with my only sister at the beach, eat all the pastries and drink lots of espresso.
Q-Favorite song and/or band?
N- I have just as an eclectic taste in music as I have in books, but if I had to choose one song and one band I think I’d pick Imagine Dragons and their hit “Demons”.
Q- Favorite thing to do on rainy days?
N-Reading a good book with a cup of excellent coffee or watching a great romantic movie.
Q-Are you an affectionate person?
N-Interesting question. The answer is I don’t know. It depends who you ask. I think I’m pretty warm toward children and dogs, but I’m not the hugging, kissing type. Maybe that’s why I write very affectionate characters. To make up for something I’m inside but others don’t see.
Q- How tall are you?
N-The question should be how short I am, lol. I’m five foot three and possibly shrinking.
Q-The inevitable Zombie Apocalypse is upon us! What’s your plan of action?
N-Run as fast as I can and reach some inhabited island. I hear that Zombies can’t swim. Or maybe I just made that up.
Q- How do you relax?
N- I don’t, not really. I do a lot of yoga, read every chance I have, and watch funny, gooey romances. On occasion, I take a hot bath even though long baths stress me out—too much to do to waste time immersed in hot water.
Q-Board games or drinking games?
N-Not that I play them much anymore but definitely board games. I don’t drink at all.
Q-Do you like reading and what’s your favorite book?
N- That has to be the worst question to ask a bookworm like me. I’ve lived inside the pages of books my whole life so I couldn’t possibly tell you one title. I’ll give you a classic, a contemporary, and a YA (which I read a lot). Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, Distant Hours by Kate Morton, and The Kiss of Deception by Mary E. Pearson.
Q- Describe the qualities you look for in a person.
N-If you read my books you already know, lol. Honesty, faithfulness, and openmindness.
Q-Describe your first kiss.
N-Geez, that’s a tough one. It was a lifetime ago during a snow storm and it was sweet, soft, and warm. I liked it. A lot.
Q-You’re at a candle shop. What scent of candle do you buy?
N-Easy. Unscented. I have a respiratory problem that reacts to almost any scent, so unless it’s something I absolutely know won’t make me cough my lungs out, I go with no scent. Now you know you can kill me with a bottle of perfume, lol.
