Welcome, one and all, to day seven of the 30 Day Gaming Challenge. Today’s challenge is … Favourite Game Couple. This one is a little easier for me because I have two clear favourite gaming couples.
First up, we have Tifa Lockhart and Cloud Strife (FFVII). Sorry Aeris/Aerith fans, but as far as I’m concerned, Tifa and Cloud were made for each other. Throughout FFVII, I was waiting for that definitive moment that they got together. Yes, I know that the scene under the Highwind doesn’t 100% confirm it, but it’s enough for me. I hear that the novels also elaborate on their relationship a little. Regardless though, I ship these two.
Master Chief and Cortana (Halo) are perhaps a little cleaner cut in terms of being a couple. I think that most people can agree that these two are romantically entangled, and that’s great as far as I’m concerned. Yes, they’re an odd couple given that one is a holographic AI, but ya know what? They’re a cute couple.
Have to agree with you on Master Chief and Cortana. They are just a great couple. I also liked dr. Gordon and Alyx from Half life 2 😊

Half Life! That brings me back. I still remember being blown away by the original.

Me too, the first time I played that one was on the good old PlayStation 2. I loved how that game changed from a creepy slow burn shooter, to all out warfare in the second part of the game 😊

I think my first time with it was on PC. I had a lot of FPS games back then, like Quake, Unreal, Blood etc, yet Half Life so managed to stand out.

True enough. My favorite gamegenre has always been FPS, but Half Life will always stand out for me 😊

Minsc and Boo. Now that’s true romance.

Now, I vaguely recall the name Minsc coming up when someone mentioned Baldur’s Gate to me. Having not played any of the games though, I wouldn’t have a clue who either one is.

Minsc is a ranger that got hit once too often on his head. Boo is his pet hamster. Excuse me, miniature giant space hamster companion. It’s a very touching relationship.
Well, it was mostly a joke, although BioWare does fairly decent romances for game developers.

Heh. I was just reading some bits on them. That does sound like an amusing character quirk actually. 🙂

I’m on Team Cloud and Tifa too, haha. He’s much better off with her than Aeris. My favourite couple is Serah and Snow though 🙂

Tifa was just so much more interesting to me, and I liked how they played off each other.
Serah and Snow are about your pairing. I only got to see them from the perspective of Lightning Returns, but I loved how dedicated Snow was.

Square Enix gets a lot of flack for the Compilation, but ending the love triangle debate was one of the best things they did. (Although various Ultimanias also helped shut it down.) But I’ve always loved the Cloud x Tifa pairing, and Zack x Aerith is just as good.

In terms of the compilation, I only got to play Dirge of Cerberus and watched Advent Children, though I enjoyed both. I do wonder if the creators knew how much the love your would explode online, or of they were surprised by how many arguments it caused.

Come on science, give us holographic waifus (and hover boards) already! I think that Cloud/Tifa make a good couple. Back in the day I preferred Aeris/Cloud, but now accept that flower girl’s true love is Zack.

Well, with the likes of Hatsune Miku et al, we’re actually getting closer to functioning holographic people. As to the hoverboards though … we’ve actually ahd them since 2015. Here’s a vid where you get to see two of them and how they work: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6kGQbQ_R4Iw
