Welcome, one and all, the day four of the 30 Day Gaming Challenge. Today’s subject is … your guilty pleasure game. This is similar to day five of the 30 Day Anime Challenge for me in that I don’t strictly have a guilty pleasure game. I either enjoy a game or I don’t. So, I’m gonna go with a game that was more enjoyable than it theoretically should have been: Tiny Toon Adventures – ACME All-Stars on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive.
Now, I won’t go into too much detail here, largely because I want to run an In Desperate Need of Love about this game, but I will say this: the game is essentially one of those TV tie-in’s where they gathered a large number of cast members from a popular kid’s show, and set them up in a game where you could play multiple different (yet simple) games, in this case soccer, bowling, basketball, obstacle course, and the whack-a-mole variant known as ‘Montana Hitting’. Given that it was likely put together rather hastily, it should have sucked. Maybe being a fan of the show helped a little, but I have nothing but fond memories of this particular title. Therefore, this is the closest that I can come in this category.
But … does anyone else have an actual guilty pleasure game?
I think if something is a guilty pleasure, it must be something you feel weird about loving. I’m like you, it’s either I like it or don’t, damn the merit that it supposedly needs! Gotta love classic picks for games that most probably forgot though. I’m sure I could come up with a few fun ones myself haha

There are so many greens out there I think. It’s a shame that they sometimes get forgotten.

I’d say the Grand Theft Auto games are mine, haha.

I saw this game mentioned in magazines, back in the day. Never played it though. Having a bunch of famous characters participating in various sports sounds like a cool idea for a game. Nintendo released a similar game recently called Mario Sport Superstars. The reviews it got were mixed though.

I think that a lot of all-star type games like this get mixed reviews, unfortunately. The charm almost entirely comes from enjoying the show I think, though the game itself isn’t actually bad.
