NXT & WWE Prediction Post

So, it’s time for another run of WWE pay-per-views! Let’s see if I can do any better with my predictions this time.

NXT TAKEOVER: CHICAGO

WWE UK Championship: Tyler Bate (champ) vs. Pete Dunne

This should be a cracker of a match. Interesting fact, Pete Dunne started out under a mask as The Tiger Kid, and worked several shows for the Riot Act Wrestling promotion down my way. He actually main evented a number of shows for us, including a mask vs. hair match where he lost the mask and became Pete Dunne. I was the head booker for a lot of that period too, so I’m glad to see one of the guys that I saw something in doing so well. Anyway, I predict a win for Pete Dunne here.

Roderick Strong vs. Eric Young

I’m not entirely sold on either guy. Don’t get me wrong here, they’re both really talented. Eric Young I was mixed on initially, but he won me over in the end. Roderick, I thought was good but lacked charisma. The recent vignettes help make him more relatable, but I dos till think he needs to work on his promos. Anyway, I can’t see anyone but Roderick Strong going over here.

NXT Tag Team Championship Ladder Match: The Authors of Pain (champs) vs. #DIY

I love #DIY. Gargano was one of those guys that I used to watch in CHIKARA and said would be hired by WWE if it wasn’t for his size. When they started grabbing smaller guys, I knew it would only be a matter of time until they nabbed him. I really want to say that #DIY go over here, so I’m picking that as my prediction. It’s a tough one to call though as TAoP are good in this role.

NXT Women’s Championship: Asuka (champ) vs. Ruby Riot vs. Nikki Cross

I’m picking Asuka all the way here. With the girls from STARDOM on the way, I would expect them to clash with Asuka in the near future too. I also expect both Ruby and Nikki to come out of this looking strong.

NXT Championship: Bobby Roode (champ) vs. Hideo Itami

Roode makes a good heel champ, but dropping the title to Itami makes sense. I think that it will depend on whether Roode is main roster bound or whether they want to drag this one out a bit longer. I’m going to say that Bobby Roode takes the win by foul means and drops it to Itami in the inevitable rematch.

BACKLASH 2017

Tye Dillinger vs. Aiden English

I anticipate this one being short but fun. The result shouldn’t really be in doubt though. This one is a win for Tye Dillinger.

Luke Harper vs. Erick Rowan

I’ve been a fan of Luke Harper since his days as Big Rig Brodie Lee in CHIKARA. I suspect that Rowan is going over here, but I’m predicting Luke Harper just because I desperately want to see him get the win.

Sami Zayn vs. Baron Corbin

OK, so Zayn is excellent. He was great as El Generico and he’s improved as Zayn. Corbin has been improving too though, and I think that he’s gonna be main event bound soon enough. That being the case, I foresee Baron Corbin winning.

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Dolph Ziggler

I’ve been enjoying this feud. Dolph Ziggler has really been shining with his promos, and there’s no way that he won’t end this match looking strong, but Shinsuke Nakamura is winning.

Naomi, Charlotte Flair & Becky Lynch vs. Natalya, Carmella & Tamina

I have no idea how to call this one. I want to say the faces will win, but I’m gonna say that the heels win with Naomi taking the fall.

WWE US Championship: Kevin Owens (champ) vs. AJ Styles

This one is going to be superb. Given that we seem to have a nice vicious Kevin Owens right now too, I’m going to say that AJ Styles wins by DQ, so that Owens retains and we get a fantastic rematch.

WWE Smackdown Tag Championships: The Usos (champs) vs. Breezango

Breezango are cool … or Tyler Breeze is cool anyway, but they aren’t winning here. This is just something to keep The Usos looking strong until The New Day debut.

WWE Championship: Randy Orton (champ) vs. Jinder Mahal

This will be an OK match, nothing more. Randy Orton is the obvious winner, though I expect Jinder to make it look tough for him.
