WrestleMania 33 Predictions

Welcome, one and all, to the WrestleMania 33 prediction post! I’ve been a big fan of pro wrestling since I was a kid, and even if it’s not always the best show of the year from an in-ring standpoint, there’s no denying that WrestleMania is the biggest spectacle. Now, WWE doesn’t always book shows with the same philosophy that I did when I ran shows. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that’s bad, or that I was better at all. Hell, if I was, then I wouldn’t have been booking shows in small halls. But still, I always like looking at the PPVs and predicting the results based on what I would do. So, that’s what these are: my WrestleMania 33 predictions. Let’s get started.

WrestleMania_33_poster

The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal: This is gonna be quick, wild, and probably quite messy at times. With the number of people involved, it’s also going to be hard for there to be too much significant action until the end. We’re probably looking at it coming down to Sami Zayn, Dolph Ziggler, Big Show, Braun Strowman, and Apollo Crews. That’ll narrow down to Strowman and Big Show, with Strowman taking the win. Prediction: Braun Strowman

Cruiserweight Title Match – Neville (c) vs. Austin Aries: I’m kinda glad that this is on the pre-show. I know, that sounds odd given how god it should be, but with how packed out the card is, it should at least maximise the potential for the match to be given some good time. It feels too soon for Neville to drop the title though, and I think that he and Aries will likely trade feud partners with Kendrick and Tozawa once Tozawa gets his win. Prediction: Neville

SmackDown Women’s Championship – Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Becky Lynch vs. Naomi vs. Carmella vs. Mickie James vs. Natalya: There’s a lot of talent on show here, but I do worry that they aren’t in the best environment to show it, especially if their time is cut down. Realistically, most of them are viable winners, though I can’t see a title change just yet. Prediction: Alexa Bliss

Raw Tag Titles Ladder Match – Gallows & Anderson (c) vs. Enzo & Cass vs. Cesaro & Sheamus: This one has the potential to be a lot of fun, and I fully expect Cesaro to come out of it looking like a star. I do think that Enzo and Cass will take the titles eventually, but I think that Gallows and Anderson need to be built up first. For that reason, I say the champs retain. Prediction: Gallows & Anderson

IC Title Match – Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Baron Corbin: I’m a big fan of Dean Ambrose, though if I’m being honest, I prefer him as a heel. His early work as Jon Moxley was superb from a character standpoint, and he worked really well in WWE as a heel too. However, he doesn’t need the IC Title. Corbin meanwhile is better than he’s sometimes given credit for, and I do think that the title would do him some good. So, I expect a big brawl with a title change. Prediction: Baron Corbin

John Cena & Nikki Bella vs. The Miz & Maryse: The Miz has been on fire of late. He is wonderfully consistent with his promos, and his big matches are better than a lot of people expect them to be. This is an old story though. The Miz and Maryse have been nasty heels, and it’s time for the heroes to get their win back. Prediction: John Cena & Nikki Bella

US Title Match – Chris Jericho (c) vs. Kevin Owens: The two former best friends have been brilliant together. The result seems fairly obvious to me though. Kevin Owens has been losing a lot recently, and his character needs a win more than Jericho’s does. I expect this to be a very good match though. Prediction: Kevin Owens

RAW Women’s Title Match – Bayley (c) vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax: Another potentially very good match here, if they’re given the right amount of time to work it. I can see the others ganging up on Nia Jax to eliminate her first, but from there, it gets a bit sketchy for me. Part of me thinks that something will happen that results in Bayley eliminating Sasha next, but then I can equally see it coming down to Bayley and Sasha. I’m gonna go with Bayley eliminate Sasha, then finishes of Charlotte. Post-match, Sasha turns heel by attacking Bayley. Prediction: Bayley

AJ Style vs. Shane McMahon: Part of me is surprised that this one didn’t end up as a gimmick match. Still, the result should be clean cut. Prediction: AJ Styles

Non-Sanctioned Match – Seth Rollins vs. Triple H: This one should be interesting, and hopefully filled with a ton of intensity. Really, this should be another tale of the hero vanquishing evil. Prediction: Seth Rollins

Roman Reigns vs. The Undertaker: This is the match that is going to get a thunderous round of boos at the finish in my opinion. That last promo from Reigns was very good, and it’s clear that The Undertaker has the support of the fans, but we know where WWE see Reigns in the future. With the streak already broken, the result is no longer a clean-cut nostalgia win. Like it or not, this is Reigns’ time. Prediction: Roman Reigns

WWE Championship – Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Randy Orton: I am so glad to see Wyatt holding the title. From a character standpoint, he’s kinda like a mix of The Undertaker and Raven in my eyes, and even when he’s rambling, I find his promos to be fascinating. Orton is on form too, pulling out some great matches, and I expect him to get the best out of Wyatt here too. I don’t think there’ll be a title change though. Prediction: Bray Wyatt

WWE Universal Title – Goldberg (c) vs. Brock Lesnar: Goldberg has been surprising in how well he’s connected with the fans this time around. On top of that, the quick win over Lesnar last time was absolutely the right thing to do. The shock, the media coverage, it all helped WWE. In the end though, he isn’t a long-term champ for the company. The long-term plan is still Reigns, and Goldberg is not the right person to drop the title to him. Prediction: Brock Lesnar

So there you have it, those are my predictions. Let me know yours below, and we’ll see how close we all get!

  1. If Undertaker loses Kevin Dunn will have to work overtime to edit out the boos. My prediction is that Cena will pop the question.

    1. I could certainly see Cena doing so. I think Miz has mentioned it during the storyline, hasn’t he?
I read that that was part of why they went for Undertaker as an opponent for him; they could guarantee the reaction that way. That said, Reigns’ signing queue was apparently huge at the pre-show thing, so it could be that he’ll get a more positive reaction than expected.
